Chemical Health Assessments
A chemical health assessment, also known as a chemical dependency assessment, can help identify the level of risk you face from drug or alcohol abuse. A chemical health assessment may be recommended if you:
Are arrested or convicted of a DUI
Are involved in a court case where drug or alcohol use may be an issue
Are concerned about your own personal use of alcohol or drugs
Have been hospitalized due to a substance overdose
Have been hospitalized due to a suicide attempt or other self-inflicted injury
A chemical health assessment may also be requested by an employer or academic institution, or by friends and relatives of people suffering from substance abuse. During the assessment, your assessor will consider your current physical health, mental status, readiness for change, learning style, personal strengths and resources, and potential barriers to recovery. The more information you provide, the greater likelihood that you'll be recommended to a program that will be the best fit for you.
